ORDER OF THE SQUIRE
The path to Knighthood begins with the Order of the Squire. Below you will find basic information regarding the requirements for becoming a Squire, the expectations of current Squires, and some clothing items each Squire should obtain and wear to our monthly regional meetings. After reading the information below, if you would like to join the Knights, please contact us. MEMBERSHIP DUES
Members of the Knights of St. Tarcisius will receive liturgical vestments, sacramentals, and other supplies. Because of the costs of these materials, we ask all members to pay annual membership dues. For those with difficulty in paying these dues, please contact us in this regard as there may be donor assistance available. REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTERING THE ORDER OF THE SQUIRE
The following requirements must be met in order for a young man to enter the Order of the Squire:
*Any potential Squire may take the Squire's Oath and enter into the Order of the Squire as an untrained altar server. The Knights of St. Tarcisius will provide him with altar server training but upon completion of this training, he must register to serve at his home parish and present the Knights of St. Tarcisius with documentation to this effect.
EXPECTATIONS OF SQUIRES
Squires in the Knights of St. Tarcisius are expected to participate in their monthly regional meeting. This meeting is held one Sunday each month. During their first six months as Squires, each Squire will review and deepen his knowledge of serving at the Altar and of the liturgy in general. We also expect Squires to participate in serving at their home parish's high feasts and solemnities, especially Christmas, Holy Week, and the Feast of St. Tarcisius - which is also the Solemnity of Mary's Assumption, August 15. RECEPTION OF CASSOCK & SURPLICE
After six months as Squires, each Squire will receive his own cassock and surplice to wear while serving at Mass and during training at our monthly regional meetings. If the Squire outgrows his cassock, he will freely exchange it for a larger cassock. Squires are expected to take excellent care of their cassocks and surplices. In order to wear the cassock and surplice with full reverence and respect, each Squire will need to purchase the following items to be worn whenever he wears the cassock and surplice:
